Åre bikepark, Sweden. Åre are the Scandinavian Chamonix.

Me and Kristin had a different biking experience in Åre bikepark. It was a
memorable day! Åre are a great small adventure city. This is the future for
the skiing destinations, not only winter but focus also on summer
activities. More information on www.arebikepark.com and

About skiing in North Norway in the media

The first 3 articles are in Norwegian, but you can enjoy some wonderfull pictures of the nature and the skiing possibilities in North Norway.

Lyngen, close to Tromsø - http://www.dn.no/d2/reise/article1644372.ece. Take also a look at this article - http://www.dn.no/d2/reise/article1600456.ece

D2 har også skrevet en litt ”morsom” vinkling på det å gå topp tur: http://www.dn.no/d2/reise/article1643623.ece.

Cross country skiing

Cross country skiing, a wonderfull day, in the close surrounding mountains.
In Tromsø you can take a ski bus from Centrum of town out to “Tønnsvika”,
from there you ski in some really nice winter landscapes, take a stop at
“Skarvass bu” (a small cabine) before you take on your skis for the rest of
the trip close to ”Tromsdalstind” (the city mountain top) down the valley
to the city. The nature are fantastic. But here comes the CRITIC: The bus
are OK, but they go just 2 times pr. day on weekends. And it is difficult on
Sundays to find corresponding transport. The city have to do a better job
for the citizens and also for all the new tourist coming to visit Tromsø. In
my critic today I have to also mention our nice cable car in the city to one
city close mountain top, from there you have the views, you can go trekking,
skiing and enjoy the nature surroundings in this urban adventure town. BUT
its hard to find for tourist, and it does not operate all year, the city
needs a new one a larger one. Tromsø is the land of opportunities, you have
to see it, by kayak, sailing boat, skis, mountainebike, trekking, climbing.
And it is close to Lyngen the world famous place for off-piste skiing from
mountain top to sea level. THE CITY are working on making your experience
even better, I hope!
